Someone shared a video with you on Drive, and what you want is the file itself, not a preview in a browser tab. Paste the share link here to turn a Google Drive link to MP4: the file is fetched from Drive on our servers, converted to MP4 if it is not one already, and offered as a download. It works with the usual drive.google.com/file/d/…/view address, whether it ends in usp=sharing, usp=drivesdk, or nothing at all.

One condition applies. Drive only hands the file over when sharing is set to Anyone with the link. If the owner left it restricted, the fetch needs a Google login we do not have, and the converter stops with a message that says exactly that. The fix is on the Drive side: open the sharing settings, change access to Anyone with the link, and paste the same address again. If the file belongs to someone else, ask them to make that change.

A large video takes longer to come through, so wait for it rather than pasting the link twice. The page behaves the same on a phone as on a laptop, and the finished MP4 goes wherever your browser puts downloads. No account, no watermark, and the copy we hold is wiped after two hours.

Which Drive links can be fetched

A Drive share link is not always a public link. Drive serves a file to an anonymous request only when its sharing is set to Anyone with the link; every other setting expects a signed-in Google account first. The converter has no account to sign in with, so a restricted file is refused, and you get a message saying the file needs a login rather than a vague failure. Check the sharing dialog on the file before you paste. If the owner is someone else, the shortest route is to ask them to switch the setting, since nothing on our end can substitute for their permission.

Once the sharing is right, the rest is ordinary. The link can come from the Share button, from the address bar while the file is open, or from a message someone sent you; all three point at the same file ID and all three are accepted. Bigger videos just take longer. And if you have several clips shared separately, paste up to 20 links in the bulk tab on the home page and collect them as one ZIP.

   Check the sharing setting

   Open the video in Drive, click Share, and make sure access is Anyone with the link. A file that needs a login cannot be fetched.
