Resize Video
Change a video’s resolution: 1080p, 720p, 480p or 360p. The whole picture stays, scaled down with the same shape, so a 4K phone video becomes a 720p file that is a fraction of the size.

Resize Video — Frequently asked questions
No. The aspect ratio is kept. The preset names the short side: a 1920×1080 landscape video at 720p becomes 1280×720, and a 1080×1920 portrait video becomes 720×1280.
It never upscales. Picking 1080p for a 720p video gives you a 720p file; upscaling invents no detail and only adds bytes.
Roughly in proportion to the pixel count: 4K to 1080p is about a quarter of the pixels, 1080p to 720p about half. The exact size depends on the content.
Resize lowers the resolution. Compress keeps the resolution and re-encodes at a lower bitrate. For the smallest file, resize first and then compress.
