Can I download somebody else clip?

Only if it is public. Clips a player has kept private or restricted to their friends cannot be read from outside Medal.

The link has an invite code on the end. Is that a problem?

No. Share links copied out of Medal carry tracking parameters and they are handled fine, so you can paste the link exactly as you copied it.

Do I get the game audio and my mic, or just one?

Both, as Medal stored them. Medal mixes game audio and microphone into a single track at capture time, so the MP4 you get here has whatever the clip has — if your mic was muted while recording, no download can bring it back.

Why bother when Medal has its own download button?

Medal's own download works when you are signed in and the clip is yours. This works for any public clip link, from any account, without an app or a login — which is the case when somebody drops a clip in Discord and you want to keep it before it scrolls away.

Is it free, and what happens to the clip?

Free, no sign-up, 20 clips an hour. The MP4 is scanned, served on a one-time link and deleted after two hours. Clips are somebody's gameplay, not our library.
