About LinksConverter

Paste a link to a video, a song, an image or a document — from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Vimeo, SoundCloud and many other sites — choose a format, and download the result. It converts files you upload too: documents, images, audio and video.

Who runs it

LinksConverter is an independent project run by one person, who keeps their name private. That is why you will not find their name on this site. It has been online since late May 2026.

How it is paid for

There have been no ads on LinksConverter since 4 October 2026, and there are no affiliate links. The servers are paid for in part by people who choose to help: a one-time contribution, or a 7-day or 1-year Pro pass that raises the limits. Both are optional, and every format stays free without them.

We never sell or rent your files or links. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity tell us how the site is used; the privacy policy says what they see.

The refund rule, as the Pro page states it:

Refunds: email [email protected] within 14 days of purchase and we refund the pass in full, no questions asked. After 14 days, we refund the unused days if something on our side stopped the pass doing what this page says. Refunds are issued through PayPal to the payment method you used, and the pass ends at that moment. If a conversion fails, that is our fault and never a reason to buy a pass — failed jobs get the same retries and the same email recovery for everyone, free. If we ever discontinue Pro, every active pass is refunded for its unused days without you asking.

What it will not do

• Download from a DRM-protected streaming service such as Netflix, Disney+ or Spotify. Those links are refused.
• Reach private, follower-only or members-only content. It never asks for your password or login on another site, and it cannot see what only your account can see.
• Download Tubi's films and shows, which are licensed from their studios. Those links are refused too.

Built on open-source work

The main tools behind the converter, and what each one does here:

• yt-dlp fetches the video or audio behind a link, from more than a thousand sites.
• FFmpeg converts audio and video from one format to another.
• ClamAV scans files for malware: every file up to 2 GB, except video or audio over 1 GB (or one whose scan times out), which is delivered unscanned, and the download page says so.
• LibreOffice converts most documents, such as Word to PDF.
• pandoc converts Markdown, and stands in when LibreOffice cannot read a document.
• cobalt fetches TikTok videos, and stands in when yt-dlp cannot read a link. It is licensed under the AGPL-3.0, and we run its published image unmodified.

The games on the waiting screen are other people's open-source projects, each kept with its own licence: 2048, Floppy Bird, Bricks, Snake, Maze Chase, Invaders, Paddle, Minesweeper, Sudoku, 15 Puzzle. Their licences and the small changes we made are listed in CREDITS.txt.

How these guides are made

The guides on the blog are drafted with help from AI. Numbers about LinksConverter come from its own job records or from a dated test. If you find a mistake, write to [email protected]: it gets fixed, and the post shows the date of the fix.
