Discord Link Converter

A video posted in a Discord channel lives at a cdn.discordapp.com or media.discordapp.net address, and that address stops working after roughly a day. This Discord link converter fetches the file from the CDN while the link is still valid and gives it back to you as an MP4 you keep on your own device. Paste the attachment link, leave the format on MP4, and download. There is no software to install, and the fetch runs on our servers rather than in your browser.

The expiry is the whole reason this page exists. Discord signs each attachment address, and the signature runs out, usually within about a day. A link that has already lapsed cannot be fetched by anyone, so pasting it here returns an error rather than a file. The fix is to open the message again, copy the link fresh, and paste the new one. Save the file while the link is live and the question never comes up.

On desktop, right-click the attachment and choose Copy link. On the phone app, long-press it and pick the same option; then open this page in your phone's browser and paste. The finished MP4 ends up in your downloads folder. Free, no account needed, no watermark, and the copy on our servers is deleted after two hours.

What you get

  • Fetched straight from the CDN

The file is pulled from cdn.discordapp.com or media.discordapp.net as it is, on our servers. Nothing runs in your browser and there is nothing to install.

  • MP4 that plays anywhere

The output is MP4, H.264 video with AAC audio, which plays on any phone or computer. To keep a file untouched in its own format, use the original option in the picker on the home page.

  • Clear error on expired links

A signed link that has run out cannot be fetched, and the converter says so plainly rather than spinning. Copy a fresh link from the message and try again.

  • Deleted after two hours

No sign-up and no watermark, with 60 conversions an hour. The fetched file is removed from our storage two hours after it is made.

Why Discord video links stop working

Every attachment Discord serves comes with a signed address, and the signature is only good for a limited window, typically about a day. Once it lapses the file can no longer be fetched from that link, by this converter or by anything else. That is why a clip that played fine yesterday returns an error today, and why a link forwarded out of an old message often fails. There is no workaround on our side; the file is not available at an expired address. What the converter can do is grab the file the moment you paste a current link and give you an MP4 that has no expiry.

Two things follow from this. First, copy the link from the attachment itself: a right-click offers Copy link, and a long-press does the same on mobile. Second, do it soon after you find the clip rather than bookmarking the link for later. If you have several clips to save, the bulk tab on the home page takes up to 20 links at once and returns them together as one ZIP.

How to save a Discord video link as a file

  1. Copy the attachment link

Right-click the video in the Discord message and choose Copy link, or long-press it in the mobile app.

  2. Paste it here

Drop the cdn.discordapp.com or media.discordapp.net address into the box. MP4 is preset here; for the file as posted, in its own format, use the picker on the home page.

  3. Download before the link expires

Press convert and save the MP4 when it appears. Do this while the link is fresh, since an expired address cannot be fetched again.

Discord link converter — questions

Attachment links on cdn.discordapp.com and media.discordapp.net are signed, and the signature lasts roughly a day. After that the file cannot be fetched from that address, so the converter reports an error. Go back to the message, copy the link again, and paste the fresh one.
