What to expect

35x45mm is the standard photo size across the UK, the EU, India, Australia and most of the world, which is why a single size covers passports, visas, government ID cards and the majority of application forms. The notable exception is the United States, which uses 2x2 inches (51x51mm) — a square rather than a portrait rectangle, so a 35x45mm photo cannot be cropped into it without losing the head-size proportions.
